My name is Robert. I was born and raised in the Kansas City area. My family and I love our hometown Chiefs football, Royals baseball, and Mavericks Hockey. I survive every day thanks to my beautiful wife and daughters.
I believe in food bringing family and friends together as well as how it’s served. I enjoy creating art that helps in serving food as well as other creations. I believe that art can be beautiful as well as functional. I create serving trays made with food safe epoxy resin deigns to help create a more festive next level atmosphere.
I am a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Kosovo conflict as well as the Persian Gulf. I still have friends who continue to serve and greatly respect their decision to continue their lives in service to protecting our nation.
I’ve worked the nine to five jobs for many years after leaving the service and never felt satisfaction from those types of jobs that I do from being able to create with my own two hands.
In 2019 a life altering diagnosis of stage four lung cancer set my life in a different direction: fighting for my life. Nothing will really give you the distinct and clear perspective about life as much as surviving a struggle like cancer. It doesn’t care what walk of life you are from , who you are, or even what age you are. It simply is. And it doesn’t care how much it takes from you.
Earlier this year (2021) I finally had a scan of being free and clear of the cancer, but not without the scars it leaves. It gave my life a sense of freedom I had never had before. I needed that to continue. So, I said good bye to the nine to five, good bye to the dead-end job, and good bye to the windowless cubical.
After many years of being cut off from creating art I started back up again. I started to remember how alive I felt creating something meaningful and being able to share my vision of beauty to others.
Starting your own small business can be a terrifying prospect, but also an incredibly rewarding one. Being able to meet and get to know the same like-minded people inspires me every day. Hearing others appreciate my work or even offer support by suggestion fuels my passion for what I do.
My name is Robert and functional art is what I do.
